Practice Services
Port Lincoln has visiting Ophthalmology services one day a week on average. As such the practice has developed close relationships with local GP's and the visiting Ophthalmologists. A large percentage of our patients require management and co-management of their glaucoma, diabetes and cataracts. We perform both pre and post operative reviews for cataract and refractive surgery. The practice provides visiting Optometric services over a large proportion of the Eyre Peninsula. We maintain a secondary practice in Ceduna that we visit on a weekly basis as well as regularly servicing several smaller communities around the Eyre Peninsula such as Streaky Bay, Wudinna, Cummins and Tumby Bay.
Practice layout is extremely spacious and newly renovated. There are two full sized, modern, fully equipped consulting rooms with digital slit lamp cameras. A 'special equipment room' houses a digital retinal camera, Humphrey visual field analyser, auto-refractor/keratometer and pachymeter. The large frame display and reception area feature various artworks and stylish red gum display cabinets. A patternless edger, remote edging facilities, as well as all necessary equipment for frame repairs and maintenance are contained in our on-site laboratory. Staff perform contact lens teaches in yet another area.
Commitment to training and development has produced a committed, professional, highly skilled team. We have four ancillary staff in the Port Lincoln, including two qualified Optical Dispensers, and one part time assistant in Ceduna. Our staff are trained in all areas of frame and lens selection, spectacle dispensing and problem solving, spectacle manufacture, visual field supervision, contact lens teaches, pre-testing, digital retinal photography, and auto-refraction. All ancillary staff are required to complete the Optical Assistants and /or Optical Dispensers course and once completed must continue to maintain knowledge and expand their roles by participating in further training and development. |
